This merchant policy sets out the terms and conditions for purchases made on our website. By placing an order with us, you agree to these terms, which comply with the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
1. Order Fulfilment & Royal Mail Delivery
Because formal funeral attire is highly time-sensitive, we categorise our products to ensure realistic delivery timelines.
- Formal & In-Stock Attire: Orders placed before 1:00 PM GMT Monday–Friday are processed the same day. Standard delivery via Royal Mail Tracked 48 takes 2–3 working days. Express delivery via Royal Mail Tracked
24 or Special Delivery Guaranteed is available at checkout. - Branded Merchandise & Made-to-Order Items: Custom memorial items or custom-printed merchandise have a standard production lead time of 5–7 working days before dispatch via Royal Mail.
- Delivery Delays: While Royal Mail is highly reliable, Funeral bearers Ltd cannot be held legally liable for transit delays caused by postal strikes, severe weather, or events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure). We strongly advise ordering formal attire well in advance of the service date.
2. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations
In accordance with UK consumer law, you have a statutory right to change your
mind, with specific exceptions tailored to our product mix:
- Return Shipping: Unless an item is faulty or sent in error, the customer is responsible for the cost of return postage. We strongly recommend using a tracked Royal Mail service, as we cannot issue refunds for items lost in transit.
- Hygiene Restrictions: For hygiene reasons, items such as hats, headwear, hair accessories, and undergarments cannot be returned once the packaging seal has been broken.
3. Secure Payments via Stripe
We process all online transactions securely through our WooCommerce platform
using Stripe.
- Payment Security: Your transaction is securely handled by Stripe, which is fully PCI-DSS compliant.
- Data Isolation: Our system tokenises your payment information. Funeral Bearers Ltd never sees, stores, or hosts your raw credit or debit card details on our servers.
- Currency & VAT: All prices are listed and charged in British Pounds Sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable.
4. Contract Formation & Pricing Errors
- Order Status: The initial automated “Order Received” email sent by WooCommerce is an acknowledgement of your request, not a legal guarantee of stock availability.
- Contract Formation: A binding legal contract between Funeral bearers Ltd and the customer is only formed when you receive an automated email stating “Your order has been dispatched”.
- Errors: We reserve the right to cancel and refund any orders containing clear pricing errors or stock discrepancies prior to dispatch.
5. Faulty Goods (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
If any product arrives damaged, structurally faulty, or mispr
- You have a statutory right to a full refund or replacement within 30 days of delivery.
- Please inspect all formal wear immediately upon receipt—especially before the date of a scheduled funeral service.
- To report a fault, email our support team at info@funeralbearers.com with your order number and clear digital photographs of the issue. We will supply a pre-paid Royal Mail return shipping label for verified faults.
6. Data Protection & UK GDPR
Your privacy is critical to us, particularly during sensitive times. All personal data collected during the WooCommerce checkout process is managed strictly in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- We only collect the data necessary to fulfil your order (name, shipping address, contact details) and pass delivery details securely to Royal Mail.
- Your data will never be sold or shared with unauthorised third parties.
